I can’t believe we’ve been living in Korea for over a month! March has come and gone in what simultaneously feels like forever and no time at all!
It’s taken us this entire time to get properly settled into our flat, but now we finally have everything we need to function properly…aside perhaps from a bread machine. Whole wheat bread is non-existent here; it’s an actual tragedy ;-;
The landscape around our apartment has changed drastically in the past few weeks, with the cherry blossom trees coming into full bloom this weekend.
Pretty impressive compared with the same landscape two weeks ago:
Our normally quiet street has been transformed into a mega busy place ever since the cherry blossoms began to bloom, culminating in a Cherry Blossom Festival last night.
They set up this stage on top of the stream, with spotlights shining onto the cherry blossom trees and loads of paper lantern sculptures.
Most of the lanterns had to do with Ulsan and Korea, but then there were these completely random Shrek ones, too…
There were loads of events going on throughout the day of the festival, ranging from a traditional tea ceremony thing…
…to a Gangnam Style dance-off competition for little kids…
The main highlight was still all the cherry blossoms; I wish they’d stay on the trees right through the summer – they really brighten up the city sooo much!
So that was our weekend! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter; I can safely say I did not miss the creepy Chevy Chase Club Easter Bunny, but I certainly do miss all of you!
